Curriculum
1.The language of instruction and the language of preparation of the Master’s thesis is English. The MSc will be credited with a total of 90 ECTS according to the European Credit System. It will include two semesters of study while in the third semester the Postgraduate Diploma Thesis will be prepared. In total, the proposed program offers 12 courses (8 compulsory and 4 elective). and each academic semester will include 13 weeks of teaching. In the first semester, 4 compulsory courses and 2 elective courses will be taught, of which postgraduate students will choose 1. In the second semester, 4 compulsory courses and 2 elective courses will also be taught, of which postgraduate students will choose 1. In the third semester they will carry out the preparation of the postgraduate dissertation.
2. Studies in the MSc begin with the courses of the winter semester indicatively in mid October, while the spring semester begins in mid-February and ends at the end of June..Clinical case monitoring will take place at the premises of the Third Department of Internal Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki during the spring semester. The commencement of the dissertation (assignment, preparation-presentation of the study diagram) takes place in the second semester and is completed (writing-presentation) at the end of the third semester.
3. In order to obtain the Postgraduate Diploma (MSc), the postgraduate student is required to complete a total of 90 ECTS, as follows:
a) Sixty (60 ECTS) from successful attendance in the offered courses, participation in the monitoring of clinical cases and the commencement of the postgraduate thesis.
b) Thirty (30) ECTS from the preparation and presentation of the Master’s thesis.
4. The Table below presents the teaching hours and academic credits per course as well as in the whole program. Each ECTS corresponds to 25 hours of workload. The distribution of courses and educational activities per semester is defined as follows:

The finding and assignment of the dissertation (assignment, appointment of supervisor) takes place at the beginning of the second semester, while its preparation and final presentation is completed at the end of the third semester.

6. At the proposal of the committee the curriculum may be modified and redistributed. The modification of the courses is made by decision of the Assembly of the School of Medicine of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and ratification of the decision by the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
7. Postgraduate students are obliged to continuously attend all the activities of the MSc. The attendance of all courses of the MSc, the active participation in the research activities of the MSc, in the seminars, and lectures is mandatory. The limit of absences to which each lesson is entitled is up to two (2) per course, regardless of whether they are excused or unexcused. With three (3) absences, he/she prepares a special supplementary work with his/her instructor approval. In addition to the three (3) absences, he/she is obliged to repeat for the course.
8. The adequate attendance of the courses is evidenced by the signature of the teachers in the attendance register. Teachers must confirm their attendance and the realization of the lesson with their signature in the corresponding column.
9. Upon completion of each course, postgraduate students fill in (maintaining their anonymity) a special questionnaire, through the platform of MODIP, which is used for the evaluation of teachers and the reform of the MSc.
Knowledge check
The evaluation of postgraduate students and their performance in the courses takes place at the end of each semester and includes:
A) Written exams
B) Oral exams
C) Preparation of assignments throughout the semester.
- The grading scale for evaluating the performance of postgraduate students is defined from zero (0) to ten (10), as follows:
Excellent (8.5 to 10)
Very Good (6.5 to 8.5 not included)
Fine (6 to 6.5 not included).
- The passing grade in the examinations of the courses of the MSc and the diploma thesis is defined as greater than or equal to 6. The final grade of the Postgraduate Diploma is determined by the student’s performance in the courses, and in the postgraduate dissertation.
